How to pray for each other, even apart
Praying for one another is one of the plainest commands in Scripture, and one of the easiest to forget.
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
James 5:16, KJV
Find a prayer partner
A prayer partner is someone you pray with and for, regularly. It can be a friend, your spouse, a parent, or someone from church. Agree on a simple rhythm: daily, or once a week, and how you will share requests.
Share requests well
- Be specific: “wisdom about the job offer by Friday” is easier to pray for than “pray for work”.
- Give updates, so the people praying know what happened.
- Keep confidences. What someone shares with you stays with you.
- “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).
Pray when you are apart
Distance does not have to stop prayer. In the free Prayer War Room app:
- Share your prayer code and add family and friends as prayer allies.
- Share a battle with the people you choose. They see it, pray, and can write a word of encouragement.
- See who in your circle has prayed today, and send a gentle nudge to those who haven’t.
- Ask for prayer with a single link. The people you send it to don’t even need an account.

Celebrate answers together
When God answers, tell the people who prayed. In the app, an answered prayer becomes a victory that everyone who prayed can see and celebrate. And if you lead a group, read about the app for Bible study groups and small groups.
